Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
