Web poker has become globally acclaimed recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the first poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no conniving or other types of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the dealer declares "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players are given five cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to either make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s amount is equal to your beginning bet, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantaneously to the casino. After the bet is the face off. If the house does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, with a sum in accordance with the initial bet. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The house pony’s up cash equal to your initial bet and controlled odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
