Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
