Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
