Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
