Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
