Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
