Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
