Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
