Online poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with twenty-one than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up prior to the croupier declares "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the house and of course all of the other players are given 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the bank’s first card, you must in turn make a call bet or bow out. The call wager’s amount is equal to your beginning ante, meaning that the stakes will have doubled. Bowing out means that your ante goes directly to the dealer. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, plus a sum equal to the initial wager. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The dealer pays out cash even with your ante and set odds on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
